DOE SC hereby announces the Genesis Mission Graduate Fellowship Pilot to cultivate a highly skilled, AI-ready scientific workforce. Driven by insights from the Genesis Mission
Summit and the associated Request for Information, this program addresses the urgent national need for domestic Ph.D.-level scientists and engineers who possess dual competencies in SI and a scientific discipline. By pioneering an accelerated, highly focused four-year doctoral pathway, the Pilot incentivizes U.S. academic institutions to reform traditional graduate education models.
Successful applications will establish pilots that integrate rigorous dual-competency academic coursework with high-impact research experiences at DOE National Laboratories/SC user facilities and industry partners, producing an initial cohort of approximately 100 Genesis Mission Graduate Fellows in four years. Cost Sharing: Cost sharing for basic and fundamental research is not required pursuant to an exclusion from the requirements of Section 988 of the Energy Policy Act of 2005.
